Today we are featuring Mandy Powell. She is the Executive Director of NC4K. NC4K stands for Nellie's Champions For Kids.
NC4K was started by Nellie who lost her grandmother to cancer. She wanted to help others who also been affected by cancer. While researching cancer she discovered that pediatric cancer is the least funded type of cancer. It also is the leading cause of death in children.
To date, NC4K has raised $2.5 million to help families financially going through their cancer journey. Their annual fashion show is their biggest fundraiser so when Mandy asked me if I would be interested in outfitting some of their models for the fashion show I gave her a big YES! I'm always up to help out a great cause and NC4K is definitely one of those great causes. And after meeting Mandy and seeing and feeling her passion for NC4K, I couldn't wait to be a part of this great event.

Ok, it's time to get to know Mandy a little better and find out how she got involved with NC4K in our fun fact lightening round! I had the opportunity to ask her the following questions:
Three words to describe you: Passionate, Nurturing, Optimistic
Three words that describe your style: Classic, Versatile, Relaxed
How did you get started in your business? I've been an NC4K fan and supporter for a long time. When our founder announced that she was stepping away from the day-to-day operations I knew that I wanted to be a part of the team that ensured that NC4K continued to grow, thrive and serve pediatric cancer families in a meaningful way. I've always believed that my calling was to serve others and leading NC4K has been an incredible way to live my calling.
What is a current project you are working on, or what's "next" for your business? September is Pediatric Cancer Awareness month and plans are actively underway to raise awareness for pediatric cancer, what the Hero Kids and families experience and how members of our community can support them. Our featured event in September is our annual NC4K Fashion Show: A Night of Champions. With music, fun, and entertainment, our community gathers to celebrate our heroes, their families, and our supporters who make this work possible. The fashion show portion of the program features some of our supporters and culminates with our Hero Kids taking to the stage and strutting their stuff with incredible pride. We want to make sure that no kid fights cancer alone and this event goes a long way in helping us achieve that vision.
Coffee or Tea: I love both!
Favorite Beach: Any beach where the community is actively rallying to protect sea turtles.
Favorite Charity: NC4K
When was the last time you gave someone a hand-written note? I just put one in the mail.
With Love,
